Microsoft Copilot in ToTheMoon episodes
In ToTheMoon conversations Microsoft Copilot stands for the argument between distribution and quality. The hosts rarely review the product itself; Copilot comes up as the channel through which OpenAI's models, and later others, reach a billion workplaces, and as a baseline for newer developer tools. The recurring question is whether a place inside Windows, Edge and Microsoft 365 is enough when the assistant itself is seen as old-fashioned and clunky.
In 2024 the tone was skeptical. Episode 011 pointed out that the Copilot+PC presentation had shown almost everything Apple later showed, only earlier, and that Microsoft's strength was tying the assistant to a new generation of computers. Episode 016 described a gap between an old-school Copilot on which Microsoft may be losing money and startups with no revenue at all. Episode 029 cited a company that hands out a Copilot account at hiring and pushes it for routine tasks. In episode 030 the hosts liked the decision to put every model into Copilot: a layer over different models could prove stronger than a standalone chatbot.
In 2025 the emphasis shifted to scale. Episode 070 noted that Microsoft had built GPT-5 into Copilot and Microsoft 365 right after the release, and episode 069 observed that Copilot in Edge could land on a billion devices without installation — the fight for superintelligence is a fight for where a person spends the day. By 2026 the tone had turned again: episode 103 mentioned Copilot as one route to Claude, and episode 147 discussed a report that Microsoft Copilot was losing many users to Codex.
