And right now we live in a world where everything is terribly tangled. There is so much knowledge, so many circumstances, so much information. That means there will be even more competition. Programmers will not disappear; there will be more of them. Marketers will not disappear; there will be more of them. Designers will not disappear; there will be more of them. There will be more now because everyone thinks they can do all those things. Everyone can be anything they want to be. We live in a world where everyone can be a mathematician, where everyone says they can become anything they want to be. These days you cannot explain to people that someone cannot become anything they want to be, no matter what they say, because people are used to living in the social world. They do not understand the spiritual world or the nature of what is happening, the nature of cause and effect. Start with this: why was someone born into this particular family? How did that person's life come to begin in that family? People act as though they are so clever because they moved to another country, landed a certain job, or found a good wife or husband. They act as though they are clever without understanding that all of this follows patterns they do not control.
Patterns we can control usually come down to things like this: for this sheet to go up, I have to lift it. That is a pattern I can control. What I will say during today's filming is something I do not control, because I have not written a script. It is very easy to distinguish people who are reading a prepared text from those who are not. That does not mean reading one is bad. I do not have a script here, just topics I need to discuss. There are a lot of them, and I will never manage to film them all today. There are twelve topics, with another four questions under each. I am not going to shoot fifty videos today. This is not something controlled. The video I am making is not controlled, and that is the point: it is energy. That is where the energy lies. Can you bring energy into a controlled text? Of course, you can bring energy into it in some way. And sometimes information is needed simply as information. For example: “Alexander, describe what you see out the window.” I see nine hundred eighty-four trees. I see twenty houses, hills, hills beyond the bay, San Francisco. No single video could ever be enough to describe everything I see.
The most important thing here is not the fact that a person cannot become anything they want to be. It is what you rely on: the desire to become anything you want to be, or the desire to follow values in your development and your life, to perceive and love your life as it is. Do you want to develop your own personality, feed the ego-computer, feed Ahrimanic and Luciferic energies and the energies of dark forces in general, sustain a severe imbalance, and create turmoil through an endless desire to become anything you want to be? Becoming anything you want to be is about superiority; there is an element of superiority in it. Or do you rely on the fact that you are part of life, and that what needs to happen in life will happen? Wanting to be anything you choose is wanting to be the very best. It is wanting to be God. Wanting to be anything you choose is wanting to be God. If, after watching part or all of this video, someone goes on to ask, “Then what am I supposed to do if I cannot become anything I want to be? What am I supposed to do if I cannot be God?” that is a big problem. That is the problem itself, in life and in the way you perceive life. You simply need to tell yourself, “I have a problem. I have a real problem.
I want to be God. I want to have everything, be everything, and be everywhere.” At this point a person usually says, “Well, no, not everything. I just want these particular circumstances.” But that is what life is about: understanding that there are events you can want as much as you like, but they will not happen in your life. There are even events that are supposed to happen but may not. That is very important to understand. And there are events that are impossible and will not happen. Someone would add, “Well, impossible events can happen too.” All right, keep that idea. But if you can calmly accept that even necessary events may not happen, life becomes much easier. Of course, developing this way of thinking and paying attention to it takes work. It is a major task. To relate to things this way, you need to shift your focus to other people. Shift the focus of your desire toward understanding what another person wants. People are constantly thinking about their own desires, about becoming anything they want to be, and about what they want to get. Start thinking about what the people close to you want.
Not who they want to become, but what they want in general right now. What is happening with them? What state are they in? Send them love. Why do you send another person love? So they can become anything they want to be? I talk a great deal about sending love to other people. But you do not send it so that the person can become anything they want to be. Nor do you do it only for yourself, because someone has given you the “right” assignment. You send it because that is the true way to relate to other people. Whether it makes things better or worse for the other person does not matter at all. That is not part of this question. There is no need to discuss it; it is pointless to consider it. As a question to consider, it is meaningless. Then, of course, that whole line of thinking falls away. But throughout their life, people will be accompanied by the question of who they are, where they are, what they are doing, and what they have done in life. That is natural and normal. It is normal, natural reflection. You just must not let that reflection become a parasitic way of relating to life. It is an endless question for humanity, endless. I mean within the present reality of human life.
There have been times when this question did not interest human beings. A time will come when it will not interest them either. When I say “endless,” I mean the present period in a very broad sense: centuries forward and back. At least for everyone watching this video now, or even watching it fifty or seventy years from now, it is a real, open question for conscious observation. It was, is, and will be. It is natural and vital. It is a question involved in studying and understanding your own life: who am I? But unhealthy imprints and unhealthy offshoots have been attached to this question, feeding on your system, on you, on your state. You are led astray and told, “Since you need to know yourself, let's add the idea that you can become anything you want to be, that you can gain power.” Dark forces are organized around gaining power. They are interested in gaining power for themselves. But what is very important is that it is always the power of an individual element. Large, serious systems involve groups of people or groups of energies. But again, these are individual groups of energies. You can always trace it back to some single unit. You are only part of that group, only a part.
Sometimes you are not even part of it. You are just some component, a little screw or cog. Your attention is steered in a direction unworthy of a healthy human being, harmful to you and harmful to others. You have to bring your whole system together, all your inner strength, to struggle against this, to see it, and to know that it is not true. By “struggle,” of course, I mean real, true spiritual struggle, certainly not aggression or resistance, and not ego-driven resistance. The ego-computer and ego-systems have penetrated everywhere imaginable and unimaginable. Everywhere imaginable and unimaginable. Observe your thoughts, not in terms of good or bad, but as though you were cataloging what you perceive, taking it seriously. Observe it.
