We are constantly changing. Our state changes, our thoughts change, and so does our attitude toward ourselves and other people. Our body changes, as do the circumstances of our entire life. Someone recently asked me: is there anything in a person that does not change? What some call the true self, others pure consciousness, or a point that remains the same through all these changes. An even more important question is why a person should look for that point at all. The search for something unchanging can have a powerful influence on how you understand your own development. In this video, I will show you the different perspectives from which we can consider this question, and what is truly important to look for within yourself.
On the one hand, I often say that everything in a person is constantly changing, and that it is very important to observe this. Everything is in motion. To experience and understand it, you first need to understand that everything around you is moving and changing. Absolutely everything, including the Earth. Rudolf Steiner offers a very good account of the incarnations of planet Earth. The point here is not to believe it, or even to accept it completely, but at least to know about it and begin tuning in to it.
When you learn that planet Earth has incarnations, you begin to relate differently to human existence and development as a whole. You also begin to relate differently to human incarnations in particular. This is very important. Then the question of something being constant no longer arises: absolutely everything changes. There is no need to get caught up in philosophical, socially framed questions such as whether God is constant, or whether there is some point that created everything and whether that point is constant. There is one simple reason not to: it is meaningless for your own movement, development, and understanding of yourself.
In the future, of course, you can expand your knowledge and try to find that constant point. We will certainly discuss it in a moment. But first, it is important to understand that if everything changes and is in motion, then everything changes during your life and after it. Consequently, your life is not the endpoint. That is very important. It removes absolutely any urge to get as much as possible, develop as far as possible, or achieve some important or necessary result. If we understand that the Earth incarnates, how can we assign some special significance to a person's development? Especially if you understand how humanity moves onward, what humans were in other incarnations of planet Earth, what spiritual beings existed there, how they developed, and what humans will become in the future.
This gives you a completely different perception of reality. Again, the point is not to believe it with certainty, disbelieve it, or deny it, but to take it into consideration and add that range to your thinking. There are things we are taught at school—not to mention history—in astronomy, for example, that are described through hypotheses rather than actual knowledge. To describe exactly what would happen to a person on a star, someone would have to be on that star. In the modern world, it would also have to be recorded. Just as the Americans once recorded themselves on the Moon, with the American flag waving. That gave rise to a huge amount of discussion, belief, and disbelief.
The same applies to stars. Or forget stars: Mars is enough of an example. To speak in detail about what is inside, you need some kind of research. I remember a partner of mine who always said, "People want to explore outer space, but they haven't explored the ocean." If you read about it and look carefully, most of the ocean floor remains unexplored. There are lakes within it, the largest waterfalls, and the largest mountains: a completely unexplored space, not fully studied. Today, there are no technologies for studying it. Yet all of these are tiny matters in the broader picture. We are talking about human development, about a person encountering and attaining solar consciousness, and about what happens to humanity when, for example, Earth's current incarnation ends. What do humans become next?
When we take this broader view, we see that everything changes. Someone recently asked me, "What remains unchanged?" When you want to find something unchanging, the question is: what impulse is at work in you at that moment? What exactly are you looking for? What are you studying? There are spaces and energies in which you can move into energies beyond time. When you enter a space outside time, the very existence of incarnation or human movement is, in a sense, absent from those spaces. This raises another question. We are looking from different planes, different spaces, for which physics has no description. Even ordinary words cannot describe them; we have no words for this.
How do you describe such multidimensional spaces while also describing the absence of time or of objects as such? In these spaces, of course, there is a certain constancy and a certain absence of movement. But this can only be seen spiritually. It cannot be described on a sheet of paper or put into words, because any verbal description brings in the person's own understanding. How is that understanding formed? Through dead thoughts, through a dead brain, so to speak, relying only on physical phenomena? Or is it an understanding in which an impulse of soul and spirit is active within you, and you directly experience the energy of understanding that timeless space?
Even now, as I record this video, I am illuminating these spaces quite strongly. Some people will be able to perceive them; others will not, and will not even come into contact with them. I am not sure exactly where this video will appear, on my meditation channel or my personal development channel. On the meditation channel, I give this a great deal of attention in all the meditations. There is a large series, now more than sixty meditations, in which you can encounter time and timelessness simultaneously. One of the most important questions in this discussion is why a person needs to know about a constant within their own system. Why seek to know about a constant when you do not even thoroughly understand how the physical body works or how much of it is constant?
According to all scientific knowledge, things remain constant in the physical body for ten years at most; in reality, seven. There are variations: I think bones, the skeletal system, are replaced over ten years, although many people say seven. I do not even know how this was measured, who measured it, or whether anyone has a way to measure it fully. But from the perspective of literature on spiritual science, spiritual-scientific knowledge, and spiritual science itself, the physical body renews itself completely every seven years. So there is no constant in the physical body, either. What is constant? Your first and last name are constants within your lifetime, but you can change them. Your knowledge of who your mother or father was is a constant within your life, although, in principle, you could change that knowledge too.
When we discuss deeper things, such as a constant in the spiritual system that is part of a person—the spiritual "I"—I mean the spiritual I, not the I of the ego-computer. On the one hand, the spiritual I seems to be a constant for a person. On the other, it is anything but constant, because the I was not present in the human system four thousand years ago, or three thousand years ago. It was not there. Moreover, the I is subject to influences and to different degrees of influence; it can be undeveloped. In other words, the I develops along with the person. It develops in any case. Again, if there is an impulse to search for something absolutely constant, the question is: does some original beginning exist?
The human spiritual system began to form when the Earth was at the stage of incarnation called Saturn. This was a different Saturn, a stage in that process. The account says that the first thing to appear was not the human I, astral body, or etheric body, but the physical body. Experiencing and understanding that your physical body appeared in the Saturn incarnation is incredibly difficult for the mind, because the physical body seems to die. How could it have appeared not merely in incarnations of planet Earth, but in some other ones? How is that even possible? Experiencing this involves a very interesting structure and connection of energies. I strongly recommend that people who are studying these things also give their attention to this incarnation of planet Earth as Saturn.
It carries very deep and interesting impulses for a true perception of yourself as a human being. So was there once an impulse that has remained unchanged to this day? Did such an unchanging impulse exist? That is a big question. Can it be felt? As soon as I begin trying to feel an impulse, I can, first of all, fall into unconscious conclusions, conclusions that are completely off the mark. It also depends on the level from which I am looking. If I move into a space outside time, everything disappears again, and it seems that I can see it exists. If I do not enter that timeless state, it does not exist. Now let us discuss an important point that often comes up. I have spoken about it before, I speak about it now, and I will continue to do so.
The point is that throughout your life here, you remain the same. People hear this from me very often in different groups and videos, and it gives them a strange feeling. First, they do not like it, because they do not want to stay the same. They want to stay the same if everything around them is wonderful socially. Socially, I should emphasize: your inner state is another matter entirely. On the other hand, people strive strongly for change in many forms, while simultaneously wanting to know their entire life in advance. What does knowing your entire life amount to? Essentially, putting your life on pause. Knowing it all in advance means ceasing to move and ceasing to develop.
This account is connected, in terms of years, with Christ's age. Basically, there is an understanding that human beings once developed spiritually throughout their entire lives, and that this period began to shorten. With Christ's coming, it reached a certain boundary, around thirty-three years, and then continued to shorten. We are now in an era when a person stops developing spiritually at twenty-seven or twenty-eight. Can we say that their life has stopped? Of course it has not, but in certain impulses and from a certain angle, it has. If you consider a person's whole life as an incarnation, you will see that their spiritual being is quite constant in comparison with social changes.
If you take an ordinary, average understanding of a person's life, your life has not changed at all. Your spiritual being has not changed at all—simply not at all. You need to feel this, notice it, see it, and understand it sensibly and calmly with your whole system. Be with it calmly and sensibly; be fully, calmly aware of it. Your spiritual being has not changed—not just by a little, but not at all. Going on retreats, attending different practices and events, meditating for tens of thousands of hours: it is a tiny flash. Moreover, normal, healthy human development is not about the socially defined practices people talk about.
Nor is it about putting in time at church. That is not what human beings were created for. We live in a time when a person encounters all the solar light within themselves and should not look for it outside. There was indeed a time when encountering certain energies required external carriers or other people. But that time has passed. Many religions, or the church, communicate a paradigm in which encountering a particular energy requires a human guide, or a specific place—particularly a church that you go to. This is a distorted, Luciferic encounter between the ego-computer and energy.
That is obvious. If there is a great deal of light within a place, then there is: light enclosed there, placed nearby, or associated with it. But the interpretation itself is incorrect. A person carries solar light within. Solar light is all around us on planet Earth. It is in the etheric body, in the astral body, and in the I. The question is how developed that impulse is, and how the person connects with it. So it is much more important and sensible to strive for something other than socially framed or marketing stories such as, "Find an unchanging point of consciousness, and it will bring you silence again."
Or, "Seek silence." What matters is following a true path and the true purpose of a human being: remaining in a state of continuous study and reflection on yourself, understanding the causes and effects of what happens around you, and, of course, moving toward solar energies. Let us keep "solar energy" in quotation marks, because the very term "solar energy" can only be used in quotation marks. I wish you well.
