During your meditation, I…
For example, I clearly feel that difference, you know,
between before and after:
my state before meditation, during it, and afterward.
It really does seem as though there is more clarity, or some different state, more awareness in the moment.
How do I maintain that state afterward? That is my first question.
And the second question is:
in an ordinary day,
how do I enter that meditative state?
Alexander Volchek
Look,
there is a basic rule you need to understand very clearly:
you cannot enter a meditative state simply because you want to enter a meditative state.
Someone might argue here and say
that they can easily move into an initial state of silence or certain kinds of perception. That does indeed exist.
But that is a capacity you already have. We need to set aside the case where your meditative state has become constant.
You can remain in it and shift your attention. Fundamentally, though, we are talking about deep immersion in particular things—deep immersion. Some things are a little easier to move through and see, while others are harder to immerse yourself in: the formation of particular spiritual bodies, for example, or a state of connection with full,
genuine love; entering a state called nirvana or samadhi—entering those states. Again, those words are basically something abstract to people.
There is a sound perception of reality, but for this, people need to enter a particular state at the same time and then compare those states.
There are a great many states of silence and expanded consciousness.
But entering such states at the snap of a finger is quite a unique capacity and level of development of the whole system. Not even a capacity so much as the development of the whole system.
If those organs had formed, you would not be asking me this question.
You would not even have the question.
So the development of organs of spiritual perception and the change in reality do not happen through your own desire.
You can sit endlessly in meditation for millions of hours,
aiming to develop particular states. You will reach certain points; you will even experience certain states. But you need to understand that you are swimming against the current, because developing
organs of perception as a means to change your material reality should not be your one primary goal. Usually people want to enter meditation in order to change their material reality. Why do you want to enter meditation?
Olya
I cannot answer that question.
It is just…
Well, I do not know. I have that impulse.
To expand my perception, to develop my spiritual system.
Alexander Volchek
You know the right answers. The ordinary person wants to enter that state so life will become easier, so they will feel better. So they will feel better, so things will go better at work, so they will see something and tell everyone about it, about having experienced a particular state. They want to experience a state for the sake of experiencing that state. Look,
they want to experience it. Why do people take various substances? People travel somewhere and take them. There are things you absolutely must not do,
such as taking, for example,
ayahuasca. People travel there.
Why? What is their goal?
Olya
To expand their perception too, I think.
Alexander Volchek
But why?
Olya
To enter a state where they will see answers to the questions that concern them and gain some understanding.
Alexander Volchek
Of course, they are not in control of anything there—not even the questions. Some people think they are in control. They come in order to experience a particular state. And it is a drug, by the way. Obviously, it is a drug.
In order to experience a particular state.
When we talk about a person’s real development,
they do not want to develop in order to experience a particular state. They want to develop in order to come to know the world,
to live by the laws of the Universe and follow their path, their true path, for the benefit
of everything around them, visible and invisible. They enter a meditative state for what purpose? First, to expand their perception. Expand it for what? To come to know the truth, to understand what is happening and how. I have repeatedly given people examples of examining relationships between a man and a woman.
There is a big difference when a man wants to resolve an issue with a woman, or a woman with a man: whether to stay together or separate, for example, whether to act one way or another.
The main thing for that person,
when they say,
“I want to enter a meditative state, for example, to sort this out,”
is that they want to sort it out.
That is what they are saying: “I want to sort this out.”
At a higher level,
you say, “I simply want to understand what is happening.
I do not want to resolve it. It makes no difference to me how it turns out.
No difference at all.
I simply want to perceive it.
To perceive it truly, as it really is.”
And then everything changes.
In various conversations—
I have a great many conversations with different people—
there are very deep conversations where you get into such subtle details of matter with someone,
and then something surfaces, and you see that the person is interested
a little more in finances, or a little more in their relationship with their children, than in perceiving everything
around them,
in perceiving themselves,
their spiritual being, in coming to know their spiritual being and its movement toward solar energy.
There is simply something higher. A person needs to ask themselves what is more important to them.
It is all very simple.
What is more important to you?
I am not saying that this must necessarily be the important thing.
A person can immerse themselves in a state of love here,
now,
love for their children and their family, and that will be the most important thing to them in this life. Wonderful.
But it is not the highest level of perception.
It is one level of perception. All of this is dependence.
These are all dependencies.
I am in no way doing away with those dependencies. Once again,
I am not saying you should not live with them, because a person must live through the ordinary work of everyday life. That is the whole point.
If a person lives through the ordinary work of everyday life, they go and sit down in a meditative state, in prayer to God, to the Universe, to spiritual beings, to other people, to the space around them, to themselves.
They sit down from a place of truth,
not to gain something and use it in the future or improve their life.
Once again, people want to feel good in meditative states. Again, these are completely unrelated things.
Things may get worse. You may begin to feel worse in terms of your physical body, your consciousness, your state. In fact, this would be obvious if you came to know the whole truth.
Why not sit down with this intention from the very beginning:
that you will come to know the truth?
The more truth you come to know, the harder life may become for you.
That is how human consciousness works. It does not want to see or know the truth.
Look at
what is shown on television and what is written on the internet.
It is a consequence of the current stage of human development, of people’s interaction with the spiritual world and the spiritual world’s interaction with them,
across different spectrums.
And a person’s task, with these new,
modern—or at least new within the last five hundred to seven hundred years—
systems of the soul and of perceiving the surrounding world,
and this new space around them,
is to remember what is central and important. Otherwise, we will keep sliding further,
not only into a robotic state of consciousness,
but into a situation where external robots begin to control human beings.
