On ToTheMoon, Siri is the gauge of whether Apple can do artificial intelligence at all. The hosts ask whether the company can skip being first in AI and still win by putting it where users will not leave (episode 023), and what risk appears when an iPhone hands data to an outside model deeper than a person can see (episode 011).

The 2024 verdict was harsh: episode 010 calls Siri a useless prototype of future AI that nobody uses. On the ChatGPT tie-in, the hosts noted that a permission button stops protecting after the sixth automatic yes, and that the integration could fail because of dependence on OpenAI's policies (episode 011). Apple's strength was acknowledged too: if Siri learns to understand mail, photos and the calendar, ChatGPT plugins will look like a passing phase, and the next big story could be a Siri App Store in which the assistant itself picks between Uber and Lyft (episodes 023 and 025).

From autumn 2025 the story is Gemini inside Siri — first as a rumor that the main interface on hundreds of millions of devices would run on a rival's model (episode 074), then as confirmation (episode 083). In January 2026 a host said “the current Siri is an absolutely dumb interface” and saw Gemini as a chance, with the question of where data is processed and who answers for a mistake (episode 093); insiders reported that OpenAI had declined to become Siri's brain (episode 094). Apple then postponed the update with personalization (episode 097), promised support for several models (episode 105), and by June 2026 Siri with Gemini was announced in English only (episode 121).
