We are constantly changing: our state changes, our thoughts change, our attitude to ourselves and to other people; our body changes, the circumstances of our whole life change. Recently I was asked: is there anything in a person that does not change at all — what some call the true self, others pure consciousness, and others a point that remains the same through all these changes?

In this episode, I look at one of the fundamental questions of spiritual development: is there something in a person that remains unchanged through all the changes, and should we even strive to find that point — since the very search for something unchanging can have a strong influence on how you understand your own development. I look at this question from different planes and show what really deserves your attention in life and what is truly worth looking for within yourself.

Why everything in people and the world constantly changes

On the one hand, I often say that everything in a person is constantly changing and that it is very important to observe this. Everything is in motion. And to feel this and make sense of it, you first need to realize that everything around you is in motion and in change. Absolutely everything, including the Earth. Rudolf Steiner gives a very good description of the incarnations of planet Earth. Look: the task here is never to believe it or even to accept it completely, but at least to know it and begin to tune in to it.

When you learn that there is such a thing as the incarnation of planet Earth, you begin to relate differently to human existence in general, to human development. And, of course, you begin to relate differently to human incarnations in particular. This is very important. And then the question of something being constant doesn’t arise for you at all. Absolutely everything changes.

Why our life is not the endpoint

There is no need to go into philosophical, social questions like “Is God constant or not?” or “Is there some point that created absolutely everything, and is it constant?” There is no need for one simple reason: for your own movement, development and understanding of yourself, it is meaningless.

In the future, of course, you will be able to expand your knowledge and try to find this constant point — we will definitely talk about it shortly. But first it is important to understand: if everything changes and everything is in motion, then everything changes both within your life and after your life.

And, as a consequence, your life is not the endpoint. This is very important. It removes absolutely any striving to get the maximum, develop to the maximum, achieve some important or necessary result.

And if we understand that the Earth incarnates, then how can we attach any interesting significance to a person in terms of development? Especially if you understand how a person moves further, who they were in other incarnations of planet Earth, what spiritual beings existed there at all, how they developed, and who a person will become in the future. This gives a completely different perception of reality.

Once again: the point is not to believe it for certain, not to disbelieve it or deny it, but to take it into your reflections, to add this range of thought for yourself. After all, there are things we are told at school — not to mention history — in astronomy, for example, and these things are described by hypotheses, not by real knowledge. For example, to describe precisely what would happen to a person on a star, someone would have to end up on a star. And in the modern world it would also have to be recorded — just as the Americans once recorded that they had been on the Moon and an American flag was waving there. And around that there was a huge amount of discussion, of belief and disbelief.

The same is said about the stars. Never mind the stars — it is enough to mention Mars. Or, to talk in detail about what is inside, you need some kind of research. I remember I had a partner who always said: “People strive to explore space, but they haven’t explored the ocean.” If you read up on it and look carefully, most of the ocean has not been explored in terms of the seabed. There are lakes inside it, the largest waterfalls, the largest mountains — an absolutely unexplored space, not studied to the end. And today there are no technologies to study it.

But all of these are micro-things. We are talking about human development — about a person encountering and attaining solar consciousness, about what happens to a person next, for example, when the current incarnation of the Earth ends, who they become next. And, as we can see, when we look this broadly, everything, of course, changes.

Does anything unchanging exist outside time?

Recently someone asked: “What remains unchanged?” When a person wants to find something unchanging, the question is what impulse is acting in you at that moment. What exactly are you looking for? What are you studying? There are spaces and energies where you can step away into energies outside time. And when you step away into a space outside time, the very fact of incarnation or of human movement seems to be absent in those spaces.

That is why the next question arises. We are looking from certain other planes, from certain other spaces, and there is no description of this in physics — there is no description even in ordinary words. We don’t have the words to describe it. How do you describe such multidimensional spaces and, at the same time, the absence of time, the absence of objecthood as such? Of course, in these spaces there is a certain constant and a certain stillness. But this can only be beheld spiritually.

This cannot be described on a sheet of paper, it cannot be described in words, because any verbal description will bring a person their own understanding.

And how is understanding formed? Is it understanding with dead thoughts — with a dead brain, so to speak, relying only on physical phenomena? Or do you have an understanding in which a soul-and-spirit impulse of this understanding acts in you, and you directly live through the energy of understanding this timeless space?

Even now, as I record this video, I am illuminating these spaces quite strongly. But some people will be able to perceive them, and some will not and will not even come into contact with this. On the meditation channel, in all the meditations, I give this a great deal of attention. There is a whole large series of meditations there — already more than sixty — where you can see the encounter with both time and non-time at once.

The main question when searching for something unchanging

One of the most important questions when we reflect on this topic is, of course, why a person needs to know about the existence of a certain constant in their own system. Why should a person know about a constant if they don’t even know thoroughly how the physical body works and how much of the physical body is constant?

According to absolutely all scientific knowledge, the constant in the physical body is ten years at most, and in reality seven. There are changes there: the skeletal system, I think, is replaced over ten years, although many say over seven. I don’t even know how this has been measured, who measured it at all, and whether anyone has a mechanism to measure it completely. But from the standpoint of spiritual-scientific literature, spiritual-scientific knowledge and spiritual science, the physical body is completely renewed every seven years. So it turns out there is no constant in the physical body.

What is constant? Within your life, your first and last name are constant. And yet you can change them. Within your life, knowing who your mother or father was is constant. And yet, in the abstract, you could seemingly change that knowledge too.

Can we find an original, unchanging “I”?

When we talk about deeper things — for example, about a constant of the spiritual system as part of a person, their spiritual “I” — I am talking specifically about the spiritual “I” now, not about the “I” of the ego-computer. On the one hand, the spiritual “I” seems to be a constant for a person, and on the other hand, it is total non-constancy, because the “I” was not present in the human system four or three thousand years ago. It was not present. Moreover, the “I” is subject to influences, to a certain level of influence; it is subject to underdevelopment. That is, the “I” develops together with the person — it develops in any case.

Again, if there is some impulse to look for a super-constant — is there some beginning? In general, the human spiritual system began to form when the Earth was at the stage of the incarnation called Saturn. It was a different Saturn — a stage. And the description says that what appeared first was not the human “I,” not the astral and not the etheric body of the human being, but the physical body.

To live through and understand that your physical body appeared in the Saturn incarnation is incredibly difficult for the mind, because the physical body seems to die. How could it appear not only in the incarnations of planet Earth but in some other ones altogether? How is that even possible? This living-through is a very interesting structure and connection of energies. And I deeply recommend that people who are studying pay attention to this incarnation of planet Earth as Saturn as well. It carries very deep and interesting impulses for a true perception of oneself as a human being.

So was there ever some impulse that is still unchanged to this day? Did such an unchanging impulse exist? That is a big question. Can this impulse be felt? Because as soon as I go into sensing some impulse, first of all, I can fall into a state of unconscious, completely inadequate conclusions. Plus — it depends on the level from which you look. If I again move into a space outside time, again everything has disappeared, and you seem to see that it exists. If you haven’t gone into the state outside time — it doesn’t exist.

How much do we really change in one lifetime?

Now let’s talk about an important aspect that often comes up. I have talked about it, I am talking about it and I will keep talking about it: as long as you live here, you are the same. People very often hear this from me in different groups, in different videos, and a strange feeling arises in them. First, people don’t like it, because people don’t want to be the same. They want to be the same only if everything around them is super cool socially. Socially, I would note — because the inner state is a completely separate story.

On the other hand, a person, of course, strives very strongly for change, for its various forms, while at the same time wanting to know their whole life to the end.

And what does it mean to know your whole life to the end? It essentially means putting your life on pause. Because knowing your whole life to the end means precisely to stop moving and stop developing.

This description, by the way, is connected, in terms of years, with the age of Christ. Basically, there is a sound understanding: a person once developed spiritually throughout their whole life, and then this time began to shrink. With the coming of Christ this time reached a certain boundary — thirty-three years — and then began to shrink further. Now we are in a time when a person stops developing spiritually at twenty-seven or twenty-eight. Can we say that their life has stopped? Of course not, but in certain impulses and from a certain angle it has stopped.

But if you take the whole life of a person in terms of incarnation, you will, of course, see that their spiritual being is fairly constant relative to social changes. If you take the normal, average understanding of a person’s life, then your life has not changed at all, your spiritual being has not changed at all. Simply not at all.

You need to feel this, notice it, see it, understand it very sensibly and calmly with your whole system and be with it calmly, fully aware of it: your spiritual being has not changed — not just a little, but not at all.

And your attending retreats, various practices and events, meditating for tens of thousands of hours — that is some kind of micro-flash. Moreover, normal, healthy human development is not some social practices people talk about. Nor is it sitting out time in church — it is not about that. That is not what a human being was created for.

Moreover, we live in a time — this is exactly that time now — when a person encounters all the solar light within themselves and should not look for it around them. There really was a time when, to encounter certain energies, external carriers or external people were needed. But that time has passed. And the paradigm that many religions or the church transmit — that to encounter a certain energy you must have a human guide or some particular space, in particular a church that you come to — is a distorted, Luciferic encounter between the ego-computer and energy.

This is obvious. If there is a lot of light inside there — there is a lot of light: what was locked in there, or placed nearby, or what is connected with it. But the interpretation itself is incorrect. A person carries solar light within themselves. Solar light is all around, on planet Earth. Solar light is in their etheric body, in their astral body, in their “I.” The question is how developed this impulse is and how the person connects with it.

What matters more than searching for the “true self”? The purpose of real human development

That is why it is much more important and sensible to strive not to find some socially described or marketing stories like “find an unchanging point of consciousness — it will bring you silence” or “seek silence,” but to move along the true path, by the true task of a human being: to be in a state of constant study and reflection on yourself, of understanding the causes and effects of what is happening around you. And, of course — to move toward solar energies.

Let’s keep it in quotation marks — “solar energy,” because the very notion of “solar energy” can only be used in quotation marks.
