Can you take a wrong step, change your destiny and fail to live through what you were meant to? And what should you do if you feel you have already strayed from your path? In this conversation with Olga Stolyarova, I explore the connection between destiny, karma and freedom of choice: why a person cannot see the whole system of causes and effects in their life, and whether you can live a karmic line that is not your own.

We talk about how family, your surroundings, friends and teachers can change the direction of your life, how the karma of a country, a people, a space and a time affects a person, where freedom of choice shows itself, whether you can tell a chance meeting from a karmically determined one, and why karma should not be turned into a tool for managing your life. The central question is not only whether you can stray from your path, but also what to rely on and how to act when you cannot see the whole picture of your own life anyway.

Why a person cannot know the whole picture of their destiny

– A question about the Next Step concept. You say it is important for a person to understand their next step. Can a person take a step in their life that is not theirs and change what was supposed to happen? Something was laid down for them by destiny or by karma, they were supposed to live through it in this life, but they act in such a way that they do not live through what was perhaps meant for them. What does that affect? And is it a problem at all — for the spiritual being or for the person in this life?

– Look, in order to even approach an understanding of whether a particular event or a particular action can be changed — and we will get to that now — a person needs some abstraction. People keep thinking about this in abstractions. It makes sense to start by looking at it fundamentally: no person is capable of understanding the complete structure of all the causes and effects of their spiritual being and their existence. I am saying all of them. When I say “no person,” I am essentially ruling out practically any probability. We are not considering the few people who see the widest possible range.

For the most part, it is impossible. And even if someone has just had the thought “That’s me,” cancel that thought for yourself.

A person’s foundation

Why do you need such an attitude toward yourself from the very beginning? Because you understand that you will not be able to figure it all out — given the limitations of the physical body, of what a human being is, the limitations of the etheric body, the astral body, the limitations of the soul and spirit, of the “I,” of the spiritual structure, of the world. So much is involved. Given an understanding of what karma is, an understanding that the brain will not be able to figure it out and constantly see the full range of everything — it won’t even be able to process it. No brain will be able to process it, even if it were switched on one hundred percent. What would it process? How would it process it?

At least, there is no such switching on. Perhaps only in the film “Lucy” is the brain switched on like that, so that it processes all the connections taking place. But what do we see there? The person dies, falls apart.

When you set yourself such an attitude — and this is very important — it is a very strong foundation for you. You say: “Then what should I rely on? What is important to me in life? To follow the laws of the Universe and not violate certain values? Or to fulfill my karma?” And then, of course, a person tells themselves: “How can I fulfill something I will never fully understand in my life?” It will always remain an abstraction.

But I can rely on what is fundamentally higher and at the very least try not to violate the laws of the Universe. And I will watch over that.

Further, of course, I will study cause-and-effect connections, different currents, the structure of karmic connections. I will study present, past and future lives, the connections between people, the planetary and extraplanetary structure of the world, time beyond time, the incarnations of planet Earth and so on. I will study everything, observe everything, look. But I understand that this is only part of what is needed for me to follow the laws of the Universe. It will allow me to follow them better.

But it is not the fundamental goal of my life. Because, fundamentally, people use the construct selfishly: how do I fulfill my karma? Or: can I live my life at all without fulfilling my karma? These questions have to come from somewhere. Why do you need to know this? Why do you truly need to know it in order to live by your values? Right at this moment — why do you need to know it? Will it give you the strength to love other people? To look today at every person you meet from your own heart — to notice where you act falsely, where you deceived someone, where you appropriated something for yourself, took something, looked at a person with irritation?

Valery Lomovtsev has a very good description of this. Among his restorative texts there is one called “Repentance.” A great deal in this text relates, fundamentally, to human actions — you could even list them — to how a person actually acts. And people sometimes read this text for the first time and say: “No, this isn’t about me.” It is all about you. Because a true reading is when you read this text and know: this is definitely about me.

The task is not to get rid of it. The task is to act truly. Getting rid of something and acting truly are totally different things. And you can act truly while still carrying it with you, noticing it.

Because there are things you will not change. At the very least, you will not change whether you are a man or a woman. There are things you will not be able to change — your spiritual structure cannot be changed in any way. And here something very interesting arises: when you find a foundation for yourself, when you understand what you can truly rely on — in particular, the study of how life develops — you then begin to approach more fundamental questions.

Can you miss what you were meant to experience?

But still, I want to look a little further. Can I go through my life without encountering the karmic fulfillment of what I was fundamentally supposed to live through here? Yes, you can. This is described in a huge amount of spiritual-scientific literature, for example, and in various examples. Or you can even look into a person’s life. This can be seen with spiritual sight — not always, not everywhere, not in all people. You can perceive when a person is moving through a karmic life that is not their own.

Is that a problem? Here is a very interesting aspect. Imagine: you are fifty — let’s say seventy — you go to someone, and they tell you: “You are not moving according to your own karma.” And the person goes: “That’s it, I’ll start moving according to my karma.” Is that really the right impulse? Or is the right impulse to understand what happened, why I was moving differently, and to keep moving in accordance with truth rather than with karma? Because the social understanding of karma is highly distorted.

Karma can be understood only through spiritual sight, exclusively. No verbal descriptions, no texts will give you an understanding of karma.

Can you understand, without spiritual sight, the karmic connections over the past year, the social connections? Probably you can. But that will be a narrow range of understanding of certain things. It’s like: why did I pick up this glass? I picked it up because I had just wanted to pick it up. There are things that are understandable, but there are things that are fundamentally complex.

What in life lies beyond our control

Why, for example, did such a series of lectures come into being? That is fundamentally difficult to perceive. Could there have been something outside this series of lectures? A cycle of, I don’t know, planting in the garden, or a cycle of spending time with yourself. Some people simply think that if they give lectures to the masses, they are a blessed guru. But actually, time spent with yourself can be quite equal to things that happen in the outer field. The question is: what is really contained in this source, in this energy? What is the real cause of this event?

Then the question becomes not how to live according to karma, but how to study karmic connections, strive to know and understand them, and then live by the laws of truth, the true laws of the Universe.

And there are things where you will already be constrained. Alas, today few people in the world live from early childhood in the perception of the spiritual world in such a way that everything fully favors the preservation of that spiritual sight.

There is the notion of the karma of a country, the karma of a people, the karma of a space. There is the karma of time, which has a fateful influence on what happens to you beyond your control. Because every person has to understand: there is always something higher, and that something higher can have greater significance — from the point of view of the social world, greater significance. And somewhere you simply have to be erased, somewhere something has to not happen. A person, of course, likes to say: “It didn’t happen for me because fifty thousand other people got a smile,” — to add some positive thoughts. But the thing is, the cause-and-effect structure of the world cannot be fitted into any computer, any artificial intelligence or any records.

In general, spiritual observation of the multidimensionality of the world and of simultaneous spaces of time and non-time cannot be fitted into any system of calculation. There is no language for it. Current human languages, at least, are not capable of conveying it. Current science cannot convey it in any way. How can this be conveyed? How can you convey this state? How can you copy it?

Freedom of choice and new chains of cause and effect

When a person has come to understand that they have the opportunity to study karmic connections, and begins doing so every day, then somewhere in the distance echoes may sometimes surface — but only on the basis of spiritual sight of different structures, where they can see what is the living out of karma and what is human freedom.

Don’t forget that today’s human being has the notion of freedom. Freedom either forms new karma, or — in truth, pure freedom forms nothing. Although some people may form new karma on its basis, or they may form nothing. It is an endlessly new process.

You see, we live a life in which there is not just karma that has to be lived through. Huge layers are moving in parallel for you as well, and it is not just one thing. A person goes to some clairvoyant, and the clairvoyant tells them: “Your destiny and your task are such-and-such.” And which layer have you described? Which part of the person’s life have you described?

How can you name the most important thing in this space, on this wall? What is the most important thing, Olya? The whole wall? Or some painting, some color, some frame? Or is the most important thing the person sitting opposite this wall? Or the light that shines on this wall, or doesn’t? Or this figurine that someone once bought for someone, gave as a gift? Or the fact that the painting was painted by someone? So what is the most important thing?

Singling out karma like this is social thinking. And your question, fundamentally, carries that energy. It is an endless question of social society, one that will keep spinning wherever people want to add some esotericism or an absurd notion of spirituality, instead of truly understanding that life — here it is, life is all like this, all of it.

It is not something separate, not something independent — as if there were my life and some karma. It cannot be that way.

If you live only in the physical world, then live only in the physical world. Stop talking about any karma. Stop talking about any causes and effects that are not governed by the physical and scientific world. Stop. Rely only on scientific facts — strictly only on them. I know practically no such person. I know ninety-nine percent of people who live without understanding or even acknowledging the existence of the spiritual world — not to mention living with the experience that the spiritual world is primary, that it is permanent, constant. But I know practically no one who actually lives only by the physical and scientific world. Always, absolutely always — both within themselves, when silent, and outside, everywhere, in all descriptions, circumstances, details, whatever happens.

The danger of “karmic management”

And of course, you must never play these games with karma, the way people do. I think we filmed such a video — we can highlight it here. We filmed it on my personal development channel. I just don’t know which channel this video will come out on, because I also have a channel that deals with spiritual development and meditation. Here it is also spiritual development, it’s just that there the focus is more on meditation. And that video was about what is called “karmic management” — there is such a term.

It is a very heavy game, and you must understand that you will have to answer for it. You will have to answer for it, guaranteed. And you need to be careful, conscious and genuine with it.

How outside influences can change your path

– I want to clarify. You said that in a person’s life it can happen that they were meant to live through something, but they may not live through it. What does that mean, then? I was just thinking that a person might act unconsciously or in some other way, and because of that does not live through what they were destined to live through. That’s how I understood it.

– Of course, on the one hand, it is very important to remember the need to understand karmic and cause-and-effect connections and the influence of different structures: that a person is not living their own life, or is not following their own path, or is in a state of certain damage. But this is only an observation of the person. It cannot be their foundation, cannot be the beginning of their spiritual path. You shouldn’t start with this. Of course, you do need to approach it.

I have a spiritual development group called “Life,” and recently a question was asked there about something I had said: that heredity has a negative influence on a person’s karmic task. And the person said that, actually, one’s lineage carries strength.

Indeed, there are things there where lineage carries strength. Moreover, it is no accident that you come into a particular family — this, too, is a karmic connection. It is not as if everything in you is separate, apart. But there are things that are piled onto you from above, that were not planned, and you can get bogged down in them, you can remain in them, they can suck you in.

It’s like in ordinary life, when some group of people can drag you into certain actions — into something bad or, on the contrary, into something positive and good — and completely turn a person’s whole life toward a different reality. And I understand this perfectly well. I have four children. We can do and say anything we like. But if any of them has close friends, a boyfriend or girlfriend, a teacher — someone who can capture the child with their energy, and the child tunes into them — that person can transmit any range of energy to them. Of course, all of this has its limits and so on. But they can lead this person away into a different reality. And this can happen outside of karma.

Your life, Olya, a few years ago, in some absolutely random way, brought you, for example, to me, and you started working for me and are constantly within a particular framework of knowledge. You are not just around knowledge — you have confidently formed for yourself very precise mental structures of guidelines and foundations for your life. You didn’t have them, you definitely didn’t. And you really formed them. It would seem you are still the very same person, you do or don’t do certain things the same way, you make decisions the same way. Your friends and acquaintances will say: “Olya, you’re just the same.” And so you are.

But if you look a little deeper, an energy has been very clearly laid down in you — you could call it a virus, but in this case in the positive sense of the word — that tirelessly keeps telling you: you need to treat people well, you need to look at the truth in people’s lives, the spiritual world exists. It has begun to beat in your life like a mantra; it lives in you. You seem to go everywhere just the same, talk just the same. And when you talk about this to someone now, at this moment, in August 2026, people will look at you and not understand what is going on. Times will change — they will begin to perceive you differently. But right now they don’t understand. And this structure has been born in you.

So, we can consider: are these energies chance circumstances that came to you outside your karma, or were they karmically determined?

In truth, there is no difference, Olya: you need to live the life that you have.

Moreover, if I tell you that these energies are not karmically determined but were laid down from some other reality — I have a question for you: will you want to give them up? You will say: “No, no, no, don’t take this away from me.” And then you will ask: “Alexander, what reality is that?” What difference does it make to you what reality it is? Is it your new karma? Or is it some kind of freedom with karma? Because any freedom will again place you in a chain of cause and effect, which in today’s reality, with the current construction of the human spiritual structure, will in any case be expressed in karma, because karma is a counterweight to the presence of certain dark structures in the world.

Are you going to give it up, then? What will you say? It has already been formed. So does that make it positive karma? Or is this karma relatively positive because it led you away from meeting certain people — or didn’t — from living through certain states with these people and from certain states arising?

What should truly become a person’s foundation

Yesterday my wife’s mother said to me: “Sasha, your life isn’t bad, you were raised well.” I had been discussing the topic of parents, and I say: “That depends on the picture you look from. I have done many nasty things in my life and lived with many bad things, really very bad things.” She goes: “What bad things?” I say: “I clearly wanted to deceive someone at times, clearly wanted to use someone, clearly wanted to steer something my way somewhere, tried not to see happiness in every person, tried not to see joy in every person. That’s enough,” I tell her.

You could also pile on social things: how I treated my physical body, how I made decisions about my profession or about interacting with my family, and so on. But on the whole, that is enough. I did not live with every person in the perception that this person is divine light. I didn’t want that. I didn’t even know that this is so.

The point further on is not whether I always hold this one hundred percent. I am not capable of guaranteeing that I won’t lose my composure in every conversation — I can certainly lose it. If two bears walk in here now, believe me, I will lose it — physically, psychophysically, one hundred percent I will lose it. But at the core I will always remember what every person is. That’s all.

Or, let’s say, a bad thought arose in me at some point. Ask a large number of people whether it’s okay to gossip. People readily answer that it is. But at the core you simply need to know that it is a negative phenomenon from the point of view of a person’s true development. Bingo! Go on gossiping, but at least know that it is a negative phenomenon. If a person doesn’t admit this to themselves… I know that I didn’t admit it before — fifteen or twenty years ago, it doesn’t matter.

That is why I told her: what are we talking about right now? What are we comparing in terms of who I have developed into, who I have been formed into? And if we want to compare social things, did my parents really somehow influence the fact that I know how to run YouTube channels? Or that I was able to manage companies where thousands of people worked, hired or fired a thousand people, that they had millions of customers? What do my parents have to do with this? Nothing. And what do my parents have to do with the fact that I learned to write essays, whole books? Actually, before university I sometimes couldn’t memorize a poem and couldn’t write essays at school. Or did they have something to do with it after all? And if they did, then let’s look at the reality of this fact, of everything that was happening. What exactly was happening?

So what do you want to connect? What did we take from our parents — some achievement or some nasty thing? Or should we look at what we took that is real? For example, some shared energy that flows.

The only thing you can examine, Olya, is energy, all kinds of energy. If you look at them a little more broadly, you won’t divide them into good and bad — you will observe these energies, because all these energies are beautiful.

Moreover, any observation of even the most negative energies will, believe me, inspire awe, because these energies are at least of a higher order than some dumb social occurrence along the lines of “I made a hundred dollars yesterday.” That is exactly why people like to watch various fantastical worlds or look at various paintings: they convey something greater. I am not against money in bank accounts growing, against the need to earn money and so on. The question is about recognizing and understanding the structure that governs these energies, about understanding these structures and energies.

You might sit there and say: “Interesting, but what’s interesting?” What’s interesting is that I have fully described to you the structure of your own current energetic perception, which I had never even mentioned to you from the outside before. But that is precisely the fact of a person’s development.

And how, after this, could I evaluate you? Whatever you do — bad or good — I will evaluate only this structure. However many articles you write or Instagram posts you make, good or bad, whether you replied on time or, on the contrary, failed to post something or disappeared — this cannot overshadow my vision of how I have just perceived you in terms of your current, real state. Because that is who you are. Everything else is some trifle and abstraction.

Of course, socially we then make decisions: to work together or not, to pay money or not, salaries and so on. But the question is: is a person capable of perceiving another person? What do they rely on in coming to know another person?

All right, then I will tune into the real Olya. I have seen the real Olya — and now I will think: whether to raise her salary or not, fire her or hire her, tell her that she did something well or badly. Believe me, this gives a more serious understanding of everything that is happening.

Don’t tell a child: “You’re somehow not good today.” What does that even mean in this child’s life? Look at them a little more broadly — and you will see that their shouting, quarrel, conflict have no significance at all in relation to their life and to who they are. Zero significance.
