Can artificial intelligence copy a person, and can you keep talking to someone close to you after they die?
In this episode I look at what AI actually copies and what happens to a person who talks to a digital copy. Why does the wish to hand AI everything you don't want to do lead not to freedom, but to slavery? How can you copy a soul if thoughts come through it? And what should each of us do: not run away from our own time, use AI properly in life, and truly develop ourselves as human beings?
Introduction. Can a person be copied
Artificial intelligence already makes it possible to create digital copies of people, and you can keep talking to such a copy even after the person has died. There was a case where a man created a digital copy of his late fiancée and went on talking to her. And I was asked: what is actually being copied? What happens to a person who talks to such a system? And can you truly replace someone close to you with their digital copy? Today we will talk about this.
This is an interesting point — bringing dead people back. An acquaintance of mine, a fairly well-known, older American businessman, lived near me. He moved from New York to the Valley to build a startup around the idea that a person could create a copy of themselves before death, so that people could then interact with that copy, be with it, spend time with it.
And it is interesting that when you talk to this man, and to many other people in general, they very convincingly, incredibly convincingly tell you that artificial intelligence today is capable of copying a person completely. "Today" is in quotation marks, because people were saying this three years ago. They reason about it incredibly, think about it incredibly. In particular, this does not surprise me: I perceive it very much spiritually, I understand it, and even psychologically it is very understandable.
And psychophysically it is very understandable from the point of view of the material world. People say they want to create an artificial intelligence stronger than a human being and to surpass the human being. The very notion of "surpassing a human being." And you say: "But it won't have sense organs. It has no physical sense organs, it has no hormonal background. Or do you want to give it a hormonal background?"
This is a very interesting point. There are people who push very hard the position that humans will have robotic parts of their own organs, and there will be robots with human organs. There is literally such a movement, very heavily promoted in robotics.
What a person doesn't want to see. A double instead of yourself
If a person perceives a human being simply as a piece of meat and a set of some functions to be performed, then, of course, you can treat your children like this: "Listen, I've hired you a robot, and my digital copy has been fully copied into this robot. I'll see you in five years, say, or whenever I want. In the meantime, interact with it; it will answer you the same way, tell you things the same way, do things the same way." And this "the same way" — what does it mean?
Because fundamentally, if we look at a person's development, a person does not want to give up anti-values, does not want to think that all people are good. Doesn't want to keep paying attention to how he treats other people. Doesn't want to admit that his anger and aggression destroy other people. That is, fundamentally a person does not want to look at simple, fundamental things.
Fundamentally a person does not want to look at simple, fundamental things. Here someone has invented a robot for you that can do this instead of you.
Fundamentally, it sounds very interesting. Some construction has appeared in my place that will handle difficult things, spend time with my child when I'm nervous — that's what the person says. Or run a meeting in my place as the CEO, while I deal with the company's important matters. Or in my place as the owner: I've made my money, I'll rest, and let artificial intelligence or some particular machine work in my place.
And in general I'll live forever, because I'll be able to run my corporation forever. There will be laws under which I can appoint my double, within artificial intelligence, as the responsible owner. And my artificial intelligence will be able to perform all actions, all functions completely, will be able to do absolutely everything.
In essence, what will artificial intelligence do? A person wants artificial intelligence to do everything that, fundamentally, a person doesn't feel like doing or doesn't like.
A person wants artificial intelligence to do everything that, fundamentally, a person doesn't feel like doing or doesn't like.
It's a huge industry. A huge number of companies promote the idea of moving the tasks of an ordinary person's working day onto artificial intelligence.
For example, I have a garden. It so happens that I film my videos in part of the garden. And hundreds, I don't know, maybe thousands of different plants grow here. Do I need artificial intelligence to plant these plants, weed them, clear them, look after them? I do all this myself right now, completely alone. Rarely does anyone help me here, very rarely. But I could hire other people to do it. Or I could not do it at all, not do it in general.
I do it because I like doing it, I want to do it, I want to be with it and spend time with it. And if I stop wanting to do it, I'll either dig up all the plants and plant grass, or there will simply be earth, as, in fact, there was here on this plot. Or I'll hire some people who will look after it. But the most important aspect here is what I experience while doing these things. And do I really need to replace these actions? Do I really need to remove them?
It's like when I was buying a dog two years ago, and my mother was incredibly strongly against it. She talked about how hard it is, what a responsibility it is. She probably wouldn't have objected if I had said: "Listen, I have ten housekeepers who will look after the dog, plus separately hired full-time dog trainers who will take care of it."
A tool to avoid living through things. Karma, impulses and events
But when I wanted to do this, I did it because there was an impulse in me toward this action, not because it was a mechanical action. There was some impulse in me; for some reason it arose. I had to encounter this event.
So we are now heading toward what a person wants… He has always wanted to avoid a huge number of impulses anyway. And because he wanted to avoid a huge number of impulses, the dark system seized the human being incredibly strongly, drew him inside itself, and began to destroy him.
A world of cause and effect appeared. First diseases appeared, death appeared, causes and effects appeared, karma appeared. So that a person would have to live through certain events because that is how it must be, and not because he wanted it out of his ego motives. Because that is how it must be. Because that is the law of the Universe.
Now a person wants to arrive at a tool to which he will say: "No, I don't want it the way it must be. I want it the way I want it."
Living forever at any cost. What idea these people carry
There are a huge number of examples of people who are trying to extend their lives. Let's look at what is really happening to them, what trend they are creating, what idea they are actually carrying. What idea are these people pushing?
There is one American man. What he is creating is simply horrifying. He is showing the whole world this Ahrimanic system of development, inhuman development. The man eats a hundred pills a day, lives on a schedule planned in advance, tries to hack his physical body. He constantly has an incredible number of problems. He spends a huge amount of time on it. He is clearly in an inadequate state of perception. His energy of perceiving the world, of different states of living in the world, of different states of the day, is completely extinguished. And he broadcasts this to people as something important. And millions of people actually watch him and believe that it will truly be possible.
AI instead of parents. A bedtime story from a machine
That man who was building this system… One of the very first videos about it was even filmed in Germany, where a person was dying. And he supposedly made his own avatar back at the dawn of GPT-like systems.
So this same man started a project to create an artificial intelligence system that would interact with children. And he came by more than once and said that this system was so cool: "Can you imagine, it will be able to read a child a bedtime story. Or the child will be busy with something in the evening." Busy with what?
Let my child go outside, walk around and throw pebbles into the woods. Count ants. Pick up a hammer, hammer in a nail. Put together a construction set at home, rearrange some blocks. Quarrel with a brother or sister — or they'll play, run, jump around. Pick up a badminton racket, a basketball, throw something around. Sit with me, talk, draw, simply look ahead.
And not switch on some device that will start telling him a story, memorizing this child's psychological profile, or imposing on my child a particular system of thinking and development of a universal robot. Not of a child as an individuality, not of a human being as an individuality, not of a human being as an independent spiritual system in the world — that is slavery.
If we look at it, this is not freedom, it is utter slavery.
And he told me about this very confidently, but never once in his life asked what I think about it. He talked to me all the time as if I thought the same, but I didn't think so. First of all, I don't think he will create such a cool system. He is unlikely to manage such a project. If he does — well done, no problem. But he is unlikely to pull it off on the market in terms of the technology of the current market, business and everything else.
But in general, reading a story… I think that ten years ago Amazon Alexa and a huge number of devices could already read a child a story. You just switched on YouTube, and it read you a story. What's the problem with reading a story? Talking? That's what brothers, sisters and parents are for, people you can talk to. Or talking to yourself.
The ability to talk to yourself, the ability to be with yourself. At the right moment — to be with a large number of people, and at the right moment — with yourself, alone, when there is no one else around.
A soul can't be copied. Where thoughts come from
Of course, it is all absurd — the idea that you can create a system that will copy a person's individual traits. It is complete nonsense, because the person doesn't understand how thoughts come to a person. If he sees the world as one where thoughts arise in the brain and the brain generates thoughts for you, that's one thing.
But if a person understands that thoughts come through your soul and that it sends a thought down to you, unless you live in the dead thoughts of the brain, then how are you going to copy a person's soul?
How are you going to copy a person's soul? How are you going to copy that at this very moment a person must feel exactly this?
How will you copy it? How will you copy thousands or millions of states of perceiving nature? How will you copy ten million states of perceiving another person you live with? How will you copy why today you look at your wife and you don't like her, and ten minutes later you look and you kind of do? What model will you build in, what formula? Thirty percent dislike, seventy percent like? How will you do it? How will you create it?
Whoever wants to create this, and whoever talks about it, are people completely infected by dark worlds. There are good things you can do with modern technology. Great, cool, good things. And there is simply deception. It's simply deception, simply fake.
Yesterday I read an article in which a man wrote about Elizabeth Holmes — there once was such a company, Theranos, and she told everyone it could do super tests. He wrote that she lived in the era of the 2010s, when people lived in the world of "fake it until you make it." That was the time of TED talks: people came out and talked a great deal about things that didn't exist, various unreal things, got money for it, built businesses. And now that is impossible to do.
But now, if you actually look, there is simply an incredible number of people talking nonsense. Simply an insane amount of deception — specific, obvious, outright deception. Just listen to the founders of artificial intelligence companies. They deceive everyone every day. They say one thing, then another, then one thing, then another. Or they assign probabilities: the probability that humanity will die is twenty percent, and that it won't is eighty. Just some absurd probabilities. Well, okay, I suppose. Humanity finds it interesting to play these games.
The flying car and the energy of the crowd. Why it captivates people
This is interesting: three days ago Tesla showed at its presentation a car that took off a little and landed. What is really interesting there is the energy itself — why this presentation caused such a stir everywhere.
For example, Half Moon Bay is thirty-five minutes' drive from me, going down from Silicon Valley to the ocean. A flying car project was launched there several years ago. The car really does take off quietly there, you can see the leaves fly up a little around it, it flies forward and lands. My wife was even driving past once: they have a small airfield there, and they were testing this car right then. I drive there often, but I have never seen it.
And now Tesla showed this presentation with jet engines. It doesn't impress me at all, because, obviously, if you can launch a rocket that puts satellites into space, you can clearly put some mini rockets on a car that will take off, flip over or do something. It doesn't produce any effect at all. It's a question of the amount of money spent and the desire of a particular person or a particular group of people.
Although, once again: I deeply respect a huge number of Elon Musk's achievements as a businessman, his company, I own his shares, I like all of this very much. I like a huge number of technologies and everything else. But look at what energy this caused in the world. And the next question is: what is the source of this energy? Why did people like this particular event?
My wife says to me at home: "Did you see what happened?" And so we're sitting in the room in the evening, and she says to me: "Please put on this video, show Damian," my little son, that they've invented a flying car. And when she said that, I remembered the nineties, when you're sitting in the kitchen in Belarus, and your grandmother or mother says to you: "Did you see what happened? They're about to show it on TV." And you watch something unattainable on TV — incredible!
Although in fact Tesla's California office and the xAI office are five minutes down the road. That noise below is exactly the street where their office is. It's a very short drive. And the children go to school across the road from them at Stanford: right there, Stanford, Palo Alto, and their office stands right across the road. Obviously, they study in Silicon Valley, on Stanford's grounds. The elementary school teachers there tell them: "Do you know that times are changing now? For example, Tesla has cut car production in order to produce robots." My Igor is told this in class in the fifth grade, or they told them in the fourth.
But what an effect! For my wife the energetic background was as if the world had invented a pill and everyone would live a thousand years, although nothing happened at all. Nothing happened at all. And when we were going to bed, my son, who is ten, says: "Did you hear, Dad, it costs five hundred thousand dollars." And you go: "So what?" It feels as if it cost a billion dollars.
Social energy, social background — the truly, genuinely captivating energy of a human being.
In the same way, of course, the idea of copying a person captivates people. Because people like the very idea: to get rid of difficulties through copying.
A copy instead of loss. Freedom or slavery
To stop grieving that a person has died. "We'll have a great avatar of you, go ahead and die." But if you pay attention once again, people don't want this. People want to live in freedom, not in slavery. Because as soon as this happens, it is pure slavery.
And this is an indicator of the ego system of all people: on the one hand, they want to live in freedom, and they want to make slaves of all other people. It won't be that way. In this particular case only the dark world wins. Here everyone will be without freedom, absolutely everyone, including the creators of these systems.
By the way, note: the creators of all these systems are also slaves.
Whatever happens, their clone is guaranteed to be created, one that will be able to do all of this and apply all of this. They, of course, believe they are incredibly unique and that it will be impossible to clone them.
Laws for digital copies. What lies ahead
That's why, of course, there will be a trend toward being able to make a copy. And some modern state or politician will invent a story for the hype under which it will be possible to lobby a law that, after death, artificial intelligence can make decisions for a husband or wife, or for the owner of a company, or take part in the future development of one's children if they were left underage after the adult's death. Absurd! But we will be heading toward this.
There will be such projects; such startups are guaranteed to appear now, if they don't exist yet. Startups for cloning, for copying a person, certainly already exist, but legal startups for this legal copying will appear.
That is, there will be a society that will resist: you can't copy me, you can't copy music, you can't copy a color, you can't copy a brand. But that's just kindergarten compared to what copying a human being means. And how will you prove and defend the uniqueness of a person and the uniqueness of the person being copied? It's absurdity on top of absurdity.
The uniqueness of a person can only be defended through the spiritual world. If you look at it through the physical world, no uniqueness exists.
What's more, today there is no law that forbids a person to change his face and be a copy of another person. There is no such law in the world. You can't use someone else's image, but there is no law forbidding you to copy a face onto yourself. But judging by where humanity is heading, this will clearly be possible.
What each of us should do. Technology and developing yourself
And what are we going to do about it? That is why, of course, fundamentally the most important thing remains this. On the one hand, to be able to properly use and apply artificial intelligence technologies in your life, in your basic life, to truly apply them, to understand what they are, to live in a mode of conscious, genuine perception of them. Not to run away from the present time and not to try to surpass it. And on the other hand, of course, to engage in real development of yourself as a human being. And to understand that no technology will ever be able to copy you as a human being. It is impossible.
But here is what you can do:
- either develop as a human being, work and labor on fairly difficult things in order to bring love to other people;
- or turn into a vegetable and yet another robot carrying out other people's orders and the will of a written program — it doesn't matter whose: another person's or a computer's.
Few people in the world realize simple things about technology. Technology has long since, across a huge share of the Earth's population, surpassed people in terms of controlling and managing them. Just as there is Windows, installed on an incredible number of computers in the world — one could probably say on most of the world's computers. And none of us knows whether it has a special function that will switch off all computers at a certain moment.
