In ToTheMoon the United States is a participant rather than a backdrop: the state that allocates chips, writes export rules, argues over TikTok and ultimately decides who may use the strongest model. The hosts watch America from Silicon Valley and keep measuring its lead in models, capital and universities against what China and the rest of the world manage to do.

In 2024 the theme ran through rivalry and domestic shifts. Episode 001 argued that at the level of NVIDIA, TSMC and Huawei an export measure matters more than another improvement in an algorithm; episode 006 read the TikTok sale debate as a fight over the distribution of attention dressed up as national security. By the end of the year, episode 035 offered a sober conclusion: the US still has a chance thanks to its models, NVIDIA and capital, but China is pulling ahead on energy, and the best realistic outcome is not to fall behind.

In 2025 the channel treated American strategy as policy. Episode 051 described the US as the region betting on freedom of development and leadership, unlike Europe with its rules built around rights; episode 055 discussed Altman's warning that without the right to train on the open internet America would lose to China; episode 058 explained the decision to sell NVIDIA chips worldwide as a way to keep the world dependent on the American standard. In 2026 the United States appeared in a new role in episode 122: the government stopped Fable 5, and the hosts observed that access to the leading systems was beginning to be limited to Americans.
