Children and loved ones as spiritual beings
Child, mother, spouse: familiar words can obscure the person themselves. In these meetings, Alexander invites you to consider someone close to you as a spiritual being, with a life and lived experience of their own that cannot be reduced to our expectations of their role.
Am I interested in the person close to me, or primarily in who they are supposed to be in relation to me?
- For parents who want to consider their own perception of their child
- For those who notice persistent expectations of the people close to them
What you can explore here
In the author's words“Observing children is a very interesting aspect in itself.”
3 recordings. Each has its place.
The editors proposed this order based on the recordings' contents. It is not a stage of spiritual development prescribed by the author.
Children. Coming to know another person ↗
Begin with a specific conversation about children, their differences, and an adult's perception.
Meeting 5 · 2 hr 18 minAnother person as a spiritual being ↗
Broaden the question: am I interested in another person as a spiritual being?
Meeting 12 · 1 hr 46 minProjections and a person's spiritual being ↗
Return to the familiar roles of mother, child, and manager, and to what they obscure.
Meeting 26 · 1 hr 36 minThe order is an editorial suggestion. Between recordings, take as much time for your own observation and reflection as you need.
In the author's words“As soon as you begin looking from the perspective of the spiritual being, every model of behavior falls away. It disappears altogether.”
The question here is whom I perceive behind the family role. The focus of Relationships from Love is different: how I myself participate in the interaction.
Return to your own experience.
- What do I actually observe in someone close to me, beyond my own judgment?
- What interests me about them as a person?
- What familiar pattern of their behavior do I keep insisting on?

What to keep in mind
Considering a spiritual being does not mean determining a child's destiny or “level.” There is no promise to change someone close to you or replace help with a family situation.
Does this include a parenting method for different ages?
No. This is a spiritual study of how we perceive another person. Age-specific teaching methods, diagnosing a child, and managing their behavior are not the subject of the collection.
